Message From the Boss

Dear Solstice MFA Faculty, Students, and Alumni:

You probably noted that the first item in our September MFA newsletter was the fabulous news that Poets & Writers magazine has ranked the Solstice MFA Program of Pine Manor College #14 in the country for low-residency programs.

The Solstice MFA Program launched in July 2006, and already we are one of the best in the country! This is the result of all of us working together to make our program academically rigorous and our community so supportive. I want to thank each of you for the role you have played in earning us this high ranking when we’re still so “young.”

While I am dedicated to the idea of the Solstice Program remaining small—between 50 and 60 students would be ideal—we also need to recruit new students in order to remain healthy and strong. Anything you can do to help spread the word about our program will be greatly appreciated. Please tell everyone you know about our strong ranking and urge them to tell THEIR friends. Post it on FaceBook! Twitter about it! Send out an email blast!

After Labor Day, we are mailing out 18,000 postcards to potential students around the country. If you would like to help us distribute some postcards as well, please let me know and we’ll mail you some.

I hope you are having a prolific semester!

Meg Kearney

Director, Solstice MFA Program

of Pine Manor College
