A CHANCE, A CHANGE BY JASEN SOUSA

A CHANCE, A CHANGE

Young teens lost in our tracks,
appreciation of the youth is what this world lacks.

All we need is a chance to succeed
and change is what you would receive.

Suicide and shootings
would no longer make parents bleed.

They do not think we can handle
pressure and politics. Building liquor stores
near our houses and turning us into alcoholics.

Walking the streets lost and confused,
I don’t want to go home,
I am a child that’s abused.

There’s nothing to live for.
Let us have more important jobs
so we can have the opportunity
to give more. Doing drugs
to take away the pain for a little while.
Putting us down for so long, tomorrow at school
stack up all the dead bodies
in one pile.

A message to those in higher places.
Please give us a piece,
and no longer will you have families
telling their young children to rest in peace.
