NOT LIVING LATELY BY JASEN SOUSA

NOT LIVING LATELY

I may be walking around,
but I don’t feel like I’m alive.
Everyday that passes,
I take more of a dive.

Just when I thought
things were getting better,
and were about to turn around.
My legs are sunken too far into the earth,
and do not seem like they want
to come out of the ground.

Shaken up by my fears,
soaked in my tears.
What happened
to the last couple of years?

It’s stupid to sit here and dwell
about gaining them back,
I know I never will.
Worrying about my troubled past
makes me extremely ill.

Just because the sun is not shining now,
doesn’t mean I cannot get a tan.
Just because I haven’t been living lately,
doesn’t mean that one day, I cannot become a man.
